A History of Tanque Verde Lutheran Church

November 4, 1973 Tanque Verde Lutheran Church began holding services in the clubhouse of the Villa Caprice Apartments.
October 6, 1974 TVLC became a full-fledged congregation of the Lutheran Church in America.
Spring of 1974 Church services were begun at Wrightstown School Elementary School.
Summer of 1976 Ground breaking for Sunday Church School, office and worship space.
April 24, 1977 Dedication of the new Tanque Verde Lutheran Church and Facilities.
January, 1982 Pastor Linder Resigns and accepts a call to Buena Park, California.
October 17, 1982 Frank G. Nausin is installed as Pastor
February 20, 1983 The new Education Building is dedicated.
May, 1984 William E. Wong is installed as Associate Pastor.
March 13, 1988 Ground was broken for The New Sanctuary and Church offices.
April 17, 1988 Kent Tuohino is installed at the new Associate Pastor (Replacing William Wong who accepted a position with the ELCA Church Wide Offices in Chicago).
March 26, 1989 The Congregaton worships for the first time in the New Sanctuary.
August 28, 1994 Jill Gendreau is installed as Associate Pastor for Family Life.
October 1995 Erik Feig is installed as Associate Pastor for Family Life.
August 15, 1999 First Service at Trinity Mission Church
April 2, 2000 Dedication of FAMILY LIFE CENTER
December 2000 Pastor Kent Tuohino and Valerie Kemp accept a call in Flagstaff AZ. Pastor Ivan Gunderman becomes Interim Pastor
May 2001 Pastor Mark Perry joined the staff as Pastor for Family Life, and Pastor Sondra Krogstad joined the staff as Pastor for Outreach.
July 2002 Pastor Frank Nausin left to take a call at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks California. At this time the Family Life Center was renamed to the Nausin Family Life Center.
August 2002 Pastor Jan Womer joins the TVLC staff as interim Pastor.
October 2003 Pastor James Cords is called to join TVLC as Lead Pastor.
August 2007 Pastor Sondra Krogstad accepts a call to a church in Mesa, AZ.
December 2009 Pastor Mark Perry accepts a call to Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
