Pastor Jim grew up in Lynwood CA, a southeast suburb of Los Angeles. While working as a media specialist and Youth Director, he earned his B.A. from Azusa Pacific University graduating in 1983 with a double major in Philosophy and Psychology with a minor in Ministry. After working as Augsburg Publishing House’s director of Audio-visual for the west coast he attended Luther-Northwestern seminary in St. Paul, MN (now Luther). Having interned in Dickinson, TX, he has been a pastor in San Diego, Santa Rosa, and served at Bethel in Cupertino, California. He was called to TVLC in October 2003.

Pastor Jim is married with two children (wife Marilyn, daughter Kristin, and son Paul). He enjoys scuba diving and cheering for his children at their various activities. He is studying with the Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership and is a founding member of VisionCast: a team of folks working together to build effective leadership for Christ’s mission in a new era.
